Written by: Uniondale Fire Department The Uniondale Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1924. It consisted of one Rescue company, one Ladder company and two engine companies. An E.M.S. squad was added in the 1990’s.
The Uniondale Fire District protects a diverse residential as well as commercial community. Some examples of our protection area are Hofstra University, Nassau Community College, Nassau Coliseum, parts of the Meadowbrook parkway and the Southern State parkway and the EAB Plaza just to name a few. The Uniondale Volunteer Fire Department department consists of over 110 members and a host of fire fighting, rescue and medical equipment. We operate 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. We responded to over 1400 emergency calls last year alone. |
