Built in 1858 by the Button & Blake Company, the Water Witch was purchased used from the Islip Fire Department in April 1893. The pumper came to Farmingdale with an excellent reputation, having proven its' worth at "countless conflagrations" It also brought with it the distinction of having earned a state record for pumping in tournament competition. The "Witch" continued to win tournaments for over 100 years, even beating out motorized pumpers at many events. She was the second piece of apparatus owned by the company making her the original 922.
